Thoughts on Education:

Quality education is something I value highly, and it is my goal to provide music and percussion education of the absolute highest level to students of all ages who desire to learn. While there are some areas in which I specialize, I am capable of teaching a broad spectrum of percussion. No matter the instrument or style, I believe in the fundamental value of music to communicate, and I aim to help students understand the incredible breadth and depth of music as art.

However, I also believe in teaching skills that go beyond music––skills that can be used in real life, whether a student pursues a career in music or not. Responsibility, professionalism, respect, patience, and a serious work ethic are all things I emphasize to my students over time. It takes more than simply being a good player to land work in today’s music job market, and it is my goal to equip students to enter the workplace better prepared to take on challenges of all sorts, no matter what field of work.
